Transparent OLED Displays – Brilliance in Flexibility
What are OLEDs?
The term OLED, short for “Organic Light Emitting Diodes” is the latest in high definition display technology currently available in the market. OLED displays house complex components which primarily consist of a carbon film which is inserted behind the glass panel on which the content is displayed. This film which is housed in the emissive layer of the panel is made up of a chain of hydrocarbons, hence the word “organic” used in describing these displays.
Every diode present on this film is individually illuminated according to what is being displayed on the screen. This makes it more energy efficient and reduces the “hotspots” generated on screen while displaying darker images. This allows OLED displays function in a much more effective and efficient manner as compared with its LED and LED LCD counterparts to display blacker blacks and whiter whites which provide a more refined visual experience for the viewer.
The compact design of these OLED displays coupled with their ability to display sharp and colorful images are seeing them being used in a number of latest TV sets, smart phones and flexible and transparent displays. The only thing holding them back from being adopted in every piece of latest technology is due to the cost of producing such displays.
LCD vs LED vs OLED Display Technology
OLED displays are a marked improvement from previous LCD and LED LCD screens currently in the market. They nearly surpass LCD and Led lit LCDs in nearly every design and operational aspect making it the ideal choice.
OLEDs display the darkest blacks and whitest whites among the three different displays due to their ability to completely dim down the diodes present on parts of the screen displaying the darker parts of the image. The absence of a backlight also helps in improving the image quality in the above mentioned way. The thin design of these panels has also opened up the opportunity for them to be used as transparent OLED displays for in-store showcases, marketing purposes and to be used in manufacturing “flexible and roll able” technology.

Buying a Transparent OLED Display – The Benefits
Buying a transparent OLED display has its benefits in terms of how it can help you in your business as well as personal use. Some of the main functional benefits which you might derive from buying a transparent OLED display include;
1. Unmatched Picture Quality
The ability of a transparent OLED display to partially alter the functionality of its carbon film can help it achieve unmatchable contrast ratios which other displays cannot offer. So, if you want to display an image on some parts of the screen in your store and want them to be displayed as brightly as possible, a transparent OLED can help you achieve excellent results. This, coupled with the high refresh rates and impressive viewing angles justify the price tag associated with buying a transparent OLED display.
2. Lightweight
The main benefit provided by the advancement of technology is that it offers more in a much smaller package than before. Transparent OLED displays also follow suit to deliver more as one would anticipate by looking at its thin and compact design. This has opened the door for a whole host of applications which range from in-store displays, digital signages, Wall mounted advertising options as well as flexible screens.
3. Low Power Consumption
The absence of a backlight which illuminates a typical LCD or an LED LCD display allows transparent OLED displays to run on lower power. So, if you tend to utilize partial parts of your displays to show any content, you should consider buying a transparent OLED display as its “emissive” technology will help you rack up a significantly less costly electric bill.
